Flame and Capital

Flame and Capital – Woodside, CA

This project involved investigating the process and development of several components from sketch/ idea stage to 3D models to rapid prototypes to final physical objects. The client provided a sketch from which several iterations of 3D models were provided for review. The flame and capital were then prototyped using stereolithography. Both parts' final production had to use different processes because of their unique complexities. The flame was cast in aluminum using a hybrid 3d wax print to lost wax process, while the aluminum capital was cast using a traditional sand casting technique. Client, Andrew Skurman Architects.
